- Client: Town of Nederland
- Architect: Architecture West LLC
Project Description:
The Nederland Community Center was a 26,181 square foot renovation of an existing facility that had been built in three phases dating back to the late 1800's. During a snow storm in 2003, the roof collapsed in the gymnasium area.
Renovations began with the design and replacement of the gym roof and continued throughout the facility to allow for utilization by the community of multiple and varying functions throughout the year. This project was a Design/Build delivery method. ACS was involved from the very start of the project assisting with design concepts, component decisions, MEP system determinations, and construction methodologies. Because of the limited funds and specific construction requirements imposed by the insurance company for the roof replacement, our input was extremely valuable to the Client.
The building was completed on time despite the harsh winter conditions that Nederland frequently experiences.
The building was awarded a LEED Gold status from the USGBC in December 2009.
