At Alliance Construction, we believe how a project is built matters just as much as what gets built. That belief is at the core of our commitment to the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act, not just as a federal requirement, but as a reflection of our values as true builders.
Enacted in 2021 as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the BABA Act requires that iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in federally funded infrastructure projects be produced in the United States. Its purpose is straightforward: strengthen domestic manufacturing, protect supply chains, and invest in the people and industries that build this country.
For Alliance Construction, BABA aligns naturally with who we are and how we operate.
What the BABA Act Requires
The BABA Act mandates that federal agencies ensure financial assistance is not used for infrastructure projects unless specific materials are produced domestically. These requirements apply across three major categories:
Iron and Steel
All manufacturing processes, starting from the initial melting stage through fabrication and coating, must occur in the United States. This ensures traceability, quality control, and consistency from mill to jobsite.
Manufactured Products
Manufactured products must be produced in the U.S., and more than 60% of the total cost of their components must be mined, produced, or manufactured domestically. This requirement reinforces American manufacturing at every level of production.
Construction Materials
BABA specifically includes materials such as:
- Non‑ferrous metals
- Plastic and polymer‑based products
- Glass
- Lumber
- Drywall
These materials are essential to modern infrastructure. Sourcing them domestically strengthens both reliability and accountability. We want to know who and what we’re working with.
Our Commitment in Practice
We take a proactive, disciplined approach to BABA compliance, starting early and staying engaged throughout the life of a project. Our teams:
- Verify material origins during preconstruction
- Coordinate closely with suppliers and trade partners
- Track documentation and compliance requirements
- Communicate clearly with owners and agencies
This isn’t just about meeting federal standards—it’s about delivering projects the right way, with transparency, integrity, and pride in the outcome.
Building for Today.
Standing Behind It Tomorrow.
At the end of the day, BABA represents more than domestic sourcing, it represents a commitment to building infrastructure that supports American industry and communities for the long haul. That’s something we stand behind.
At Alliance Construction, we show up prepared, we own our work, and we build with intention. The Build America, Buy America Act aligns with our belief that strong projects are built on strong foundations: materials, people, and relationships included.
Because being a true builder means doing what’s right, even when no one’s watching, and standing behind what you build long after the project is complete.
Why This Matters to Us as True Builders
Compliance isn’t a box we check, it’s a responsibility we own.
As builders, we understand that every beam, panel, and component tells a story about how a project comes together. This story is about values, about the health and wellness of our country. Domestic sourcing supports:
- Quality craftsmanship rooted in proven standards
- Reliable supply chains that reduce risk and uncertainty
- American workers and manufacturers who take pride in their work
- Long‑term durability that owners and communities can trust
At Alliance Construction, relationships are the foundation of everything we do. That includes relationships with our trade partners, suppliers, and manufacturers. BABA reinforces those relationships by keeping production close, communication clear, and accountability strong.
