Location: Denver, CO Owner: ORICA US, Inc. Architect: OZ Architects Project Description: ORICA USA constructed under Class I Div I code restrictions included an office complex and testing laboratory facility on a 550 acre site several miles east of Aurora. The building included a 30,000 sf office/laboratory, a 4,000 sf explosive chemical testing laboratory featuring frangible walls, explosive proof lights and equipment, and a 6,000 sf classroom/garage building for staff education and equipment maintenance. Additionally, Alliance Construction Solutions provided sitework for future building pads and storage buildings. The main office building consists of administrative office space and meeting rooms, a cafeteria area, and research laboratories with fume hoods and epoxy counters with gas, steam, water and compressed air hook ups, as well as exhaust trunks. The Mixing Lab building is comprised of five laboratories that feature explosion proof fixtures, piping and equipment, as well as fume hoods and compressed gases. Two of the labs have heavily reinforced concrete walls on three sides with a blow out wall on the remaining side. The garage type building, or Mobile Mixing Unit, was constructed to provide educational classroom space in conjunction with open bays to maintain and support mobile van units. In addition to the building construction, Alliance Construction Solutions completed the site development - roadways, parking, utilities, sanitary sewer system, and a water system for the remote campus.
