Our History
Alliance Construction Solutions, founded in February 1982 as Baldwin Construction, began operating as a small general contracting company in Fort Collins. That year the company landed a project to complete an addition to Wellington Junior High School, marking the start of business. In 1992, they were awarded the contract to build the "new" Fort Collins High School for $29 million. The project was completed in early 1995, three months ahead of schedule, allowing Baldwin Construction to reach the $50 Million mark. That year, we ranked 13th among Colorado construction companies.

In the summer of 1993, with its growing reputation, Baldwin Construction selected Clayton Schwerin to succeed the original owner, Ed Baldwin. By December, Mr. Schwerin began his new role as President and CEO. "Baldwin was a good company, strong, and on the verge of being able to grow beyond what it had already achieved," stated Mr. Schwerin in a 1996 press release announcing the conclusion of the sale. "We want to continue growing and providing opportunities for our people," Schwerin went on to say. "The true measure of our success is if we can develop key people and pass the company on to another generation."

Following his succession, Mr. Schwerin and his employees' goal of further developing the company ignited an idea to build a stronger company by giving it a new name. The campaign began. From field staff to board level, planning, suggestions and strategies were gathered and discussed. Employee surveys and a contest finally determined the name of building "alliances" through "construction" and providing "solutions."

Our Philosophy

Our business philosophy is based upon and has evolved from our corporate mission and vision statements. These philosophies are built upon principles that give to and are taken from the quality facilities we produce and the sense of contribution to the communities we work in. To reach our internal goals, everyone at Alliance from mailroom to boardroom, and the field sites to business offices, is dedicated to overall success both in the form of the projects we undertake and the company as a whole.

The success of any project depends on how well the owner, architect and contractor work together. Taking advantage of the combined knowledge and experience of all those involved in the construction process ensures that the most creative solutions to challenges and opportunities are realized. Our philosophy of teamwork has been very rewarding; to date, over 90% of our projects have come from repeat clients and referrals.
